Our Story
Tasting Is Believing is independently owned by Tom & Stacey Dorow. It was born out of love and a desire to take a previous business to the next level.
Get to know us
​Tom & Stacey's food and beverage journey began largely when their own journey together began. You might think England is a strange place to begin such a journey but when a job found the newly married couple relocating to a suburb of London there were new discoveries to be found in all culinary areas.
​
Being young, and not well versed in food or wine, they stumbled upon a small wine shop in the train station near their flat with wines from all over the world. Here they would often pick up the odd bottle or two to explore another corner of the wine world.
​
Meanwhile, on the food side, they began exploring many new discoveries from the wildly exciting world of Indian cuisine to London's Chinatown, to traditional British offerings such as Fish & Chips or a Sunday carvery at a local pub.​
​
Once back in the Chicago area they continued their exploration of all things food and beverage, both locally and through their ongoing travels.
Eventually, looking to scratch an entrepreneurial itch, the couple purchased a local wine/liquor store whose owner was retiring. This exploded their wine and spirit exploration and knowledge.
​After a decade of running the store and countless number of tastings, the couple decided that it was time to get out of retail and closed the store when the lease ran out.​
Luckily for you, their thirst for introducing people to new beverage experiences and discoveries has not yet been completely quenched!
They are now thrilled to be able to offer private, custom in-home/business tastings through their newest venture - Tasting Is Believing!!!
